Cabs & transfers
Cabs, with drivers who know the bends.
This isn't a road to learn on. It has forty hairpins, and every driver we send has done it hundreds of times — in fog, in monsoon, and with elephants standing in the road. Rates are listed in full below.

One thing to know
The ghat road isn't a normal road.
Between Aliyar and Valparai, you climb roughly 750 metres over forty numbered hairpins. In monsoon, the road is wet the whole way, and mist can cut visibility to a few metres within minutes. Wild elephants use the road at dusk and after dark, and gaur often stand in it without moving.
Self-driving this road in daylight, in good weather, is one of the best drives in South India. Doing it after dark, or in heavy rain, in a vehicle you haven't driven on hills before, is a different story. If you're unsure, take one of ours — it costs less than you'd expect, and you get to look out of the window.
